That said, in 2016 I saw many of my so-called "friends" and "relatives" vote for a "feisty" and "smart" then-presidential candidate whose husband was known for his corruption, Miriam Defensor-Santiago. MDS chose for her running mate in the vice president position Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., son of deposed dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. This helped put him back into the limelight, and the rest is now infamy -- (1) interment of his father in the Cemetery of Heroes, (2) kickbacks in Congress, (3) repeal of as many reparations issued to the Marcos family.
So, I'm not sorry for calling out these "friends" and "relatives" for voting MDS on social media (Filipinos are among the top users of Facebook). I am definitely not sorry for cutting ties with them. If MDS were truly smart as they say, then surely she could have chosen someone else as her running mate instead of Bongbong. These "friends" and "relatives" have no fucking right to say that they are anti-Marcos when they voted for her. They also have no fucking right to say that they are anti-Duterte knowing well that (1) he sucked up to her and (2) Dutae allowed all the concessions favoring the Marcoses.
Good riddance to MDS, at least she's dead and has nothing left. To her family, to the Marcos family, and to the people who enabled Bongbong's return to power, putang ama ninyong lahat.
